Terms of Service
1. The service
KŌINItax (the “Service”, at tax.koini.io) reads publicly available blockchain data for wallet addresses you provide, applies tax rules for the country you select, and produces reports and downloadable documents (for example Form 8949 and Schedule D for the United States, or capital-gains, income and summary documents for other countries). A free preview shows headline figures; the full report, documents and secure delivery features require a paid subscription.
We only ever ask for public wallet addresses. We never request, accept or store private keys, seed phrases or exchange credentials, and nobody acting for KŌINI will ever ask you for them.
2. Informational only — not tax advice
The Service is a calculation and reporting tool. It is not tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and using it does not create a professional or fiduciary relationship. Tax law is complex, changes often, and depends on facts we cannot see (for example activity on wallets or exchanges you did not add, your residency history, or elections you have made). Every report states its assumptions and lists items it could not price or classify; you are responsible for reviewing the output, correcting it where needed, and for what you file. We strongly recommend review by a qualified tax professional before filing.
3. Accuracy and your responsibilities
- You are responsible for adding every wallet that belongs to the tax return, choosing the correct country and tax year, and selecting a cost-basis method that is permitted for you.
- Blockchain data, token metadata and historical prices come from third-party sources. We reconcile and sanity-check them, but we cannot guarantee they are complete or correct, and some transactions may be flagged for your review rather than classified automatically.
- Figures are computed to the cent from exact underlying amounts; totals may differ from the sum of rounded lines by a cent.
- You must only add wallets you own or are authorised to prepare taxes for.
4. Accounts and security
You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email address. Paid documents are released only after an additional authenticator check, and every download or share is recorded in an access log you can view. Keep your email account and authenticator secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
5. Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation
Paid plans are annual subscriptions priced by the number of transactions in your report, as shown on the pricing section of tax.koini.io at the time of purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store card numbers.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each 12-month term, at the then-current price for your tier, using the payment method on file, unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Renewal reminder. We email you a reminder before every renewal, with the amount, the date and a cancellation link.
- Cancel any time. You can cancel any time through the Manage subscription page on tax.koini.io (sign in with your purchase email) or by emailing support@koini.io. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current term; you keep access until then and you will not be charged again.
- Price changes. If the price of your tier changes, we tell you at least 30 days before the renewal it applies to.
- Taxes. Prices exclude any sales tax or VAT that we are required to collect, which is shown at checkout where applicable.
6. Refunds
If you are not satisfied, email support@koini.io within 14 days of a purchase or renewal and we will refund it in full, provided no tax documents have been downloaded or shared from that subscription. Once documents have been downloaded, the purchase is complete and is not refundable, except where the law of your country requires otherwise. Refunds are returned to the original payment method.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to break the law, to evade tax, to scan wallets you have no right to report on, to probe or overload our systems, to resell or scrape the Service, or to reverse-engineer it. We may suspend accounts that do.
8. Your data and documents
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. In brief: we store the public addresses you add, the reports we generate for you, your email and your subscription status. Documents are kept until you delete them or until a retention period you set expires; you can have your account and everything in it deleted at any time by emailing support@koini.io.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, its software, designs and report formats belong to KOINI Global, LLC. Reports generated for you are yours to use for your own tax affairs and to share with your advisers. The KŌINI and KŌINItax names and marks may not be used without permission.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that reports are error-free or that the Service will be uninterrupted.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KOINI Global, LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any tax, penalty, interest, lost profit or lost data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
12. Changes to the Service or these terms
We may update the Service and these terms. For material changes we will post the new terms here and notify subscribers by email at least 14 days before they take effect; continued use after that date means you accept them.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Macomb County, Michigan, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in a country whose law gives you additional non-waivable rights, those rights are not affected.
